You know, today has been exhausting. There was so much to get done and I feel like I dropped so many balls. Laundry, the dishwasher, even cooking a proper dinner. This always happens when daddy is out of town. Even his proximity is settling. I don’t think he’d let me collapse into bed tonight, though, if he was here. I think it would be too obvious to him. This need. My need. Or maybe I just think it’s obvious because it feels all consuming to me? Actually, I probably just need to go to bed early and forget about it.

After all, there’s no one here to put me over their knee and spank me until I give in to the exhaustion and stop fighting.

I do love epistolary novels, so I thought I would try my hand at a little one. A newly wed writing to her best friend from her…unexpected? honeymoon, circa the 1960s.

Dear Jane,

I don’t even know how to write this, but this honeymoon hasn’t been at all what I expected! James is great, don’t get me wrong, I’m so glad to finally be married but we got to our hotel and I was stressed from the train ride, and he totally over-reacted. I told him I just wanted to relax for a bit before we headed for our dinner reservation. He told me now that we were married he wasn’t going to “abide an attitude”! That’s what he said! I asked just what he meant by that and he sat down on the dressing chair and pulled me over his knee and spanked me. I shouted at him that I was going to call my father and he said daddy told him to. Before the wedding.

I was so embarrassed. I hid in the bathroom until it was time to go to dinner and on our way downstairs to the dining room he wouldn’t stop patting my bottom. I hope it never happens again but Jessie, what if it does?
