On the Bonnie Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond

I actually haven’t been to Loch Lomond yet, on this trip, but it’s on the list! Hello, hello! I am SLACKING. I owe y’all June, July, and August book round ups (confession: I don’t think I finished a single one in August actually?!) and at the minimum, an UPDATE on where I am! I also have a nearly finished post on community, friendship, endings, etc. ready to go. I’ve also been toying with the idea of starting a podcast? Is that crazy? Maybe. We’ll see. Anyway, I moved to Scotland – that’s the big news I needed to follow up on. Of course, it’s a temporary move, but we are finally settled now, 8 weeks in, and I can’t imagine leaving in January. I absolutely love it.

I am sitting in the lobby of a small local hotel which has a cozy cafe area and excellent wifi. They are happy to have folks here to work, chat, etc so I’ve been here a lot for parent coffee mornings, to work, afternoon cocktails, etc! They have excellent food and snacks and great coffee. Did I mention the excellent wifi? I have only met a few local spankos so far, but because he is on sabbatical and not teaching, Daniel has had a lot more time and space for spanking me! My hairbrush has gotten quite the workout, sadly. The coolest thing is that we can see Edinburgh Castle from our bedroom so I often get spanked overlooking a literal castle. How cool is that?! I’ve seen a bit of the country so far – we’ve taken trips to Inverness, Beauly, Falkirk, and we’ve both been down to Cambridge (separately!) so far. We plan to spend the day in Glasgow one day this week and I popped over there for dinner with a friend a few weeks ago. I’ve also been down to Newcastle to galavant with a friend.

I want to meet even more of the locals so I am organizing a munch here in Edinburgh on 10 October, then one in Glasgow on 27 October, with Edinburgh ones to follow in November and December before I have to leave. I don’t know if they’ll continue after I am gone, but community and socializing with spankos is too important to me to not try. I also have two parties booked. It’s all later in my trip than I expected, but that’s better than not at all. A vanilla friend of mine is visiting in November so I think we’ll try to pop down to London for a night and over to Amsterdam for a day, and in late October we (as a family) are going to Germany for a week and doing a week of day trips to fill up the half term break. Whew. It sounds like so much when written out like this!

I think accepting that I am not going to see everyone I want to and do everything I want, is the hardest part of being here – well, that, and thinking about leaving! I did also book a birthday trip for early January to Disneyland Paris, so I am really excited for that adventure with my BFF, Alex. There are other things I am looking forward to in 2027, of course. Getting back to San Diego to visit Alex before going to Oasis in February, another cheeky pop over to Mexico for the day, maybe going to Disneyland in CA? After that I’ll probably have to take a break from travel and spending money for a while.

Another fun thing I am doing while here is looking for more ebony hairbrushes to restore and get into the hands of eager spankos. A while ago, I created a Fetlife profile specifically for this hobby. If you’re in the market for a brush and want to help fund my adventures, take a look at the album of brushes for sale and let me know if you’d like to buy one or for what you’re looking for. I’d love to help you find the right brush. I will leave you all with a cheeky photo from the delightful couches in our flat, and get back to the blog posts I owe you all! The perfect couches for a belting or session with the tawse or…just being on display.
