This is based on a slightly true story, and I can’t say it’s in my head often with my current boss (I don’t find her vibey at all) but it…exists?

Shit. Shit shit shit.
The realization that she’d both forgotten to schedule the payment and forgotten to write it down, stopped her in her tracks. Fuck. Two minutes until their weekly check-in. Luckily Amy worked quickly and was in the banking system scheduling the payment within seconds.
She didn’t make mistakes often, which sort of made them more jarring when she did. This was her first “major” one since she moved to full-time hours and was given a substantial raise to go along with it.
Gathering her notebook and computer, she made her way to Heather’s office, knocking gently, and remembering the hairbrush she told her just a few weeks ago that she kept in her top drawer, for discussions.

What do you think happens to Amy when she checks in with her boss and has to discuss her oversight? For my personal style – as you probably know if you’ve read any of my posts, it’s not about “sexy” workplace stuff or hard and heavy, but structure and discipline and guilt and growth…

If I were her boss, I might address each offense separately…the forgetting to schedule the payment AND the forgetting to write it down. For the first offense, a sound otk spanking with the ruler followed by setting a monthly reminder on her phone to make the payment. This would be followed by corner time where she was instructed to reflect on any other strategies that might help her be more successful in her duties going forward. Next, I would find my heavy wooden ruler. For forgetting to write it down, I would deliver three sharp smacks of the ruler to each palm followed by three smacks of the ruler to each bottom cheek…and repeat until I feel the lesson has been learned 😊
