September Book Round Up

I am SO BEHIND. But I am catching up in the New Year, after a lovely birthday trip to Las Vegas (yes, yes, I’ll post about it, and also all the other posts!) But here’s the first of many – my much promised, and much delinquent, September book round up. For what it’s worth, my final total for the year was 123! In September, there were only 7 but they were great – and primarily by KJ Charles, ha!

  1. A nice little escape, A Nobleman’s Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel, is the second book in the Doomsday series, and set in the same 1800s remote England. It’s got a hot master-of-the-house + secretary set up and a good plot.
  2. I read CJ Archer’s After The Rift series over a year ago so this was a welcome foray back into that world. The Warrior Priest is a good story with lots of action, and the kind of closed-door but obvious romance Archer is known for.
  3. A much awaited release by Madeline Martin, The Secret Book Society, is a historical fiction novel not set during WWII but rather 1895 and delves into the lives of women within oppressive marriages and with husbands and fathers who try to control them and their access to books.
  4. Another by KJ Charles, The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting, is the first in a short series about a brother and sister, raised poor and for whom nothing has come easy. This is another M/M romance that crosses class lines and contains a lot of conflict therein.
  5. Quickly following that was book 1.5, A Thief in the Night, which expands on parts of the story begun in the first book and chronicles a fair bit of deceit and even more adventure.
  6. The final book in the series, The Duke at Hazard, is full of bets, thievery, and as we expect from KJ Charles, more social class crossing romance and seducing.
  7. My final read of Sept was KJ Charles’ newest novel, Copper Script, a standalone (as far as I know) book about a brash Detective Sergeant and a charming graphologist – and how – against the detectives better judgement, they fall in love. I loved this one! Great storyline and I’d love to read more about Aaron and Joel, though I suspect this one may remain a stand-alone.

What did you read in September? October, November, and December posts are coming, so I’ll save the December one for asking your final thoughts and what you’re reading now.
