That’s Show Biz, Kids!

I asked last week what folks would like to see me writing about and one of my BlueSky followers posed the following question about my time as a spanking model: How did you start doing it, and what are your thoughts about it now, looking back at leaping into it?

This is something I talk about fairly openly to my friends or people that know me, but I am not sure I have ever written about it or mentioned it here – or on most of my blogs since I stopped doing videos – which I only did for a short period during the summer of 2007, and once or twice after that in 2008. I knew I wanted to make spanking videos from the moment I stumbled upon my first, during a clandestine and furtive internet search in the summer of 2001, while I was awake far too late using my grandparents dial up internet. I won’t do the math for you, but I was entirely too young to have both unfettered access to the internet and to be watching porn – but alas, here we are wink. If you’re particularly curious, it was a Dallas video. I was astonished. I came back to his videos as the years went on and eventually saw his videos with Sierra Salem. That’s when I knew I wanted to blog and make videos, also!

Anyway, once I turned 18 and had seen videos by many other companies (Shadow Lane, Firm Hand, Punished Brats, Northern Spanking, Clare Fonda, Chelsea Pfeiffer, etc) I reached out to several. The company I most dreamed of shooting with, rejected me outright, with the very firm assertion that my “thighs, hips, and chin would all present a problem on camera.” Alas. I was too fat. I weigh a lot more now than I did then (like, a lot) but this had the expected effect on my self-esteem. I reached out to other companies, including one where I’d seen a model who looked like me: Adele Haze. That was Northern Spanking. We chatted on the phone, I sent some photos, etc. and we arranged my trip in August 2007. I’d make my debut. In the meantime, my living situation changed drastically and I flew to CA to spend some time with scene friends I’d known online, couch surfing a bit for the month of July. While there, I shot with both Clare Fonda for her Spanked Sweeties website (and a video for Girl Spankgs Girl, I think?) and Chelsea Pfeiffer. An opportunity arose for me to shoot with Kelly Payne also, and I took it. Honestly, I needed the cash. That video was the first I ever shot, chronologically and it’s still out there for sale on Clips4Sale.

Although I’d shot a handful of videos by the time I got to Scotland to shoot for Northern Spanking, none had been released and wouldn’t be until after Northern debuted me. I was in Glasgow for 8 days and 6 of them were for shooting. One of the days was spent driving up into the highlands, in/around Loch Lomond, Oban, and some other small towns. It was mesmerizing and beautiful. I’d never been out of the US before. I had to get a passport specifically for that trip. Overall, it was a good experience, but not all of it was positive. I’ll leave the specifics out of this post because I have a much longer post in the works that touches on it, but this was a bit of a turning point for my kink. I turned a bit inward, narrowed my focus (men only, a specific type of spanking, nothing emotionally vulnerable), and pushed forward.

I did shoot once more for Kelly Payne when I got back to NYC and once after that in 2008 while in SF during a trip, for Spanking Internet Networks – this was a terrible experience. The man who ran SIN (and I think now it’s a chat site?) was a scumbag and everything about the shoot was an arduous negotiation. The spanker was kind, for which I am grateful, but it was a shoot I did purely for the money and I compromised some things because of it.

I never got to shoot with Adele Haze when I was in Scotland – she was unavailable – but Niki Flynn was and came up for a day of shooting and we did a few together. She was sweet, kind, generous in spirit, and most importantly: FUN. In CA I shot with both Sinn Sage for Kelly Payne, and Mistress Gemini for both Clare and Kelly. Other “big” names were really just the folks at Northern Spanking: Lucy, Paul Kennedy, Stephen Lewis, and Amy Hunter.

I don’t regret making any of the videos I made, though. There is one that also felt slightly coerced in one aspect, but it’s sort of a drop in the bucket, and one that I just did not vibe with the spanker/producer so didn’t enjoy, but it was all largely a positive experience. I shot over 30 pieces of content for Northern Spanking, plus the videos for Clare (2-3?), one for Chelsea, I think 3 for Kelly Payne, and the one for SIN, so although it was short lived, there is a lot of it.

Spanking videos today aren’t like they were in the mid-2000s. There is a lot more diversity and body positivity and acceptance. I believe my experience now if I wanted to make videos would be easier, but not as much so. Of course, 18 year old me, literally more than 100lbs lighter than I am now, would have likely had a barrier free time in 2025 compared to 2007 but even in my current body I could shoot with well known content creators, if I wanted to.

Part of why I stopped making videos – other than getting tired of being told I was too-fat, was because it turned something I love, into work. People really recognized me from videos and my blog at the time, and thought they knew me. I was very young (just 18-19) and the attention was a bit overwhelming. I used the name “Kate” or “Katy” in videos but openly went by my real first name, Marie, so being called Kate or Katy would throw me off. Also, frankly, I didn’t want to have to be nice to people in the name of business. Diplomacy has never been my strongest skillset. It also turns out…I am a pretty terrible actress! I don’t like role-play! I haven’t watched any of my old videos recently but I wonder if that comes through? I think I could pull off a video that aligned more with my interests now, but I am not sure. Might be fun to try some time?

Something I get asked a lot is “Are the videos real?” and that’s a complex question. Yes, there is real spanking in them! With the exception of a few producers who are known for their physically intense content, most videos don’t contain full-force spanking even with harsher implements. Why? Because models are often shooting many videos in a single day or in a short period of time, and people rarely want to see marks on someone who is meant to be getting a hand spanking. It happens, and many don’t care – it’s an occupational hazard. Often there would be a lot of hand spanking to redden, then implements used but not full force. Sometimes an implement can be used normally and be fine. It depends on the bottom, the top, and the implement in question – and the goal. If it’s a one-off vs one-of-many a model is shooting with a given company. Since I’m such a bad actress, you can trust most of my reactions were real, but I did have to be encouraged sometimes since I had a tendency to try and be quiet early on, due to NYC apartment play!
