I often get asked what I use for skincare and, to be fair, most people are asking about my face because that’s what most people are seeing. Not to toot my own horn, but I am often mistaken for being younger than I am and I went for a facial last year and she kept gushing about my skin. My biggest confession is that I mostly leave my face alone. I tend towards dry, instead of oily skin, but I almost never wear makeup and if I do, I go higher quality and remove it as soon as I can. That said, I also get asked by friends, what to use for keeping your bottom moisturized, especially when playing a lot or heavily. So here’s my personal skincare, for all your cheeks. If you want to listen to an in depth discussion about spanko skincare, I also recommend this episode of the Sips & Smacks podcast. After the jump, I’ll talk about what I use. For my face, I keep it simple and rarely make changes. I use the CeraVe SA Cleanser as my exfoliant because I find the chemical exfoliation is less irritating to my skin than a manual one. I did miss scrubby face products for a while, but that was short lived when I realized the difference it was making. I wash my face with this every time I shower – sometimes that’s every other day and sometimes it’s daily. Occasionally, I wash my face without showering, but honestly, not often. I apply moisturizer after washing my face and since my priorities are moisturizing and reducing redness, I use either this Dr. Jart+ Cicapair serum or (most often) the CosRX Propolis Light Ampoule first, followed by (most often) the CosRX Snail Mucin Moisturizer or (less often – because it’s a bit heavier!) – the CosRX Propolis Light Cream. For face sunscreen, I use this CeraVe Mineral Sunscreen which is SPF 50. I also have a Coola face sunscreen I really like.

So that’s for my face cheeks, but I take care of my other cheeks, as well! And the rest of my body. For KP on my arms and body exfoliation, I use the CeraVe SA Body Wash – this is super effective and Salicylic Acid body wash in general is the primary tool in fighting KP bumps. I often use this on my bottom as well, but equally, I use the face wash as well. I do this every time I shower. Less frequently, I use an actual scrub on the rest of my body. I am partial to the Tree Hut brand scrubs and I love this tangerine one. I pair it with an exfoliating mitt to make sure I am being really effective. I use this method on my entire leg, bottom, back, and belly. Sometimes my arms. I do this on average once a week, sometimes more if I am particularly dry. I also recently got this Buffee Bar from Lush and tried it out last week – it’s lovely but leaves a very thick moisturizing layer. This isn’t bad but it does need a good rub in, in the shower, to absorb. It feels really nice!
As for moisturizing my bottom? CeraVe again – I use the thicker moisturizing cream but also have the lotion. I use this on my entire body except my face, and have for years. A simple unscented moisturizer like this, Lubriderm, Aveeno, etc. is ideal here. Fancy scented moisturizers aren’t necessary and can cause irritation. Especially after a spanking. I never use scrubs after a spanking because the skin is broken. Immediately after, I moisturize with the CeraVe cream, a thick layer, and cotton panties. I have never had broken skin and I intend to keep it that way. I know it’s also popular to put lotion on and then continue spanking but this is not a practice I engage in because I worry about what it could do to my skin. I don’t exfoliate again until 2-3 days after a spanking. If you’re bruised and want to fade them or disperse them faster, you can use arnica gel or lotion. I don’t usually unless I am very bruised and have a reason to get rid of them faster. I use these sparingly, because I like bruises, but you need to properly massage it in for it to work.

And that’s it. It’s actually that simple. Exfoliate and moisturize – keep it simple, high quality but not expensive. You cannot properly moisturize without exfoliating, so it’s crucial you do this regularly (but not so often as to irritate your skin). IF you get broken skin during a spanking, you must stop immediately and treat it. You have to let it heal completely to avoid it becoming a chronic opening spot. This sucks, but you can avoid it to begin with by taking care of your bottom skin, doing healthy warm ups, and knowing your limits. Clean it and keep it covered with a hydrocolloid bandage until it heals, and wait until it’s completely gone.
What do you do for your bottom? Is there something you think I should change in this routine? I’ve done this for years.
I swear by Cera Ve products for most of my body as I have very dry skin. And, whenever I’ve been bottoming, for those cheeks as well. Since I have a full-beard, my facial cheeks don’t require much attention, but those cheeks and my forehead need CeraVe since I have sun-damaged skin from my reckless younger years on the beach in full sunshine with nothing on my face but baby oil. Yes, stupid as hell. My dermatologist recommends Cera Ve for the few pre-cancerous spots I have, plus some prescription medication.
Thank you for this post, Marie! I use the thick moisturizing CeraVe product on my body too…wonderful product. I may try a few of the others you’ve recommended here, as well. Great post 😊
Hi again, Marie. I purchased some of the Korean skin care products that you’ve mentioned and plan to get started with them tomorrow. I have a question though…when do you apply your CeraVe mineral suncreen? Do you apply the sunscreen after the serum and snail moisturizer? I appreciate your help…this is all new to me 😊
Oh I’m so glad you’re giving them a try!! I don’t know the “proper” order but I do: serum, moisturizer, then once those have completely absorbed, the sunscreen. And I reapply throughout the day if needed!
Thank you for the information, Marie! I will try it your way. I am grateful for the advice 😊
I think it would also be fine to do the serum & let that absorb completely, then do the mineral sunscreen. My confession is that I don’t use it everyday – but I really know I should. I just work from home and don’t always go out tbh. I always take the mineral sunscreen when I travel and know I’ll be out and about a lot.
I’m actually going to see if cosrx has a sunscreen moisturizer to see if I can make a swap or something. I’ll keep you updated!
Thank you, Marie! I’ve been doing this new routine for a few days and my skin feels so soft. I’d been reading about Korean skin care for awhile…so glad you wrote about it and gave me a place to get started 😊
