A day late and a dollar short…sorry sorry! I was very busy existing in community with spankos and having a grand time, and getting stuck on the train, so this one took some time. Popped into a charity shop yesterday and found this lovely book of Twentieth Century Short Stories and the inside cover was SUCH a vibe!

The librarian, Miss Sweeney, at the Swanshurst Girls’ Grammar School took late book returns very seriously. This particular copy of Twentieth Century Short Stories seemed to get a string of careless girls taking its possession. It hadn’t been returned on time since Jane Ward and Joy Stretch hadn’t even bothered to fill in the ledger as she ran off to her next class.
The fifth form girls all had to study this text so they had several copies but Miss Sweeney felt she had to draw the line at Miss Stretch. She hadn’t allowed Miss Smith or Miss Jackson to log their return dates so everyone could see their irresponsibility in the future, but for Joy? Something special.
As Miss Sweeney welcomed the class into the library for their weekly browse and borrow, she lay her trusty ruler on her desk.
